Explain fully any gaps in your employment history i.e. unfit to work, caring for relatives etc. When completing date, please include the month and the year. Section 7 Disclosure and Barring Service

This post is offered subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS Check). In all cases applicants will be asked to undergo such a check. If you already have DBS clearance, please state so here and bring evidence of clearance to interview. If you would like to discuss any conviction, caution or reprimand that you think may affect your application, please give details / dates of offence(s) and sentence below. Mission statement 
Centre of English Studies places the highest importance on providing a safe and secure environment for all of our students and staff, but especially for young learners and juniors. Our recruitment processes and procedures will reflect this on-going commitment by making every reasonable effort to ensure that we employ appropriate, highly qualified members of staff who understand and share this commitment.

Recruitment process 
All teachers and administrative staff applying for work with Centre of English Studies will need to satisfy the following conditions:

  • Complete a self-disclosure (this section) at the time of applying stating any circumstances the applicant feels we should know about that may reflect on their suitability for a given post (this will not necessarily bar you from employment, depending of course on the nature of the disclosure)
  • Undergo a full and enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) prior to starting employment and complete the Centre of English Studies Declaration of Suitability to work with People under 18 Years of Age.
  • Submit the names and contact details of two professional referees prior to starting employment. These references will be followed up in all cases. The reference request will explicitly ask about your suitability to work with young people and where you will have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18 years of age
  • Explain to our satisfaction any and all gaps on CVs in terms of periods of time unaccounted for
  • Be required to provide original documentation confirming identity and right to work in the UK (I.e. passport, driving license). Be required to provide to CES original academic certification such as CELTA, DELTA. Degree, or other academic or professional certification as appropriate
