Courses
Throughout the year CES/Swandean offers a very wide range of courses for adults, all including a comprehensive programme of language learning. There is continuous assessment for all students, and long stay students get a progress report each month. Whether you require English for professional, academic or social purposes, CES/Swandean has a course which will meet your needs.
Your First Day
When you arrive at CES/Swandean on your first day, your registration will be completed with the help of a member of staff. Then you will take a multiple-choice test to help us determine your exact level of English. Following your test and a brief interview with The Director of Studies, a member of staff will give you your Information Pack that includes the CES/Swandean Bag, the CES/Swandean Students Guide, a map of the local area, a copy of that weeks Social Programme and some general local area information. You will also be given an introductory talk about the city, studying at CES/Swandean and the Social Programme we offer. You will then be taken to class.
CES/Swandean Social & Cultural Programmes
CES/Swandean prides itself on having one of the biggest and most enjoyable
Social & Cultural programmes. The programme changes every week so you will get a chance to visit many different historic and tourist sights in and around Dublin, Worthing and London. In winter we have at least 1 activity per day and usually one or two different evening activities per week such as visiting a traditional pub or enjoying an international food evening.
In Dublin it gets much more hectic during the summer months with 5 or 6 different activities daily. We normally have at least 4 afternoon visits, sports (football, basketball, volleyball and tennis) and evening activities. We also arrange 1 and 2 day excursions every weekend during the summer months. Our most popular adult tour is the weekend trip to Galway and Connemara. During your stay with us you will get to meet the CES 'Yellow Shirts' who help run our social programme. Their job is to make sure that you get the most fun and enjoyment from your stay with CES.
In the CES/Swandean centres of Wimbledon and Worthing the Summer Social Programme also increases in intensity with many more activities possible due to the good weather and longer days. We are very lucky in that we have the world famous 'All England Lawn Tennis Championship' very close to us in July in Wimbledon.
