Dublin
Dublin is one of Europe's most beautiful capital cities. It is exciting and vibrant and has one of the youngest populations in Europe. Culture and music is everywhere and areas such as Temple Bar attract many young people. The city has some of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the world and yet is a modern city with excellent shops, restaurants and museums all within easy walking distance.
At night Dublin is just as lively as during the day. You can go to one of the many restaurants or visit the pubs famous for their traditional music and set-dancing.
The sea, the mountains and the countryside are all within an hour's drive of the city centre and are accessible by public transport. Dublin's theatres are famous world-wide and the National Concert Hall caters for all music tastes. Sports, such as golf, tennis, and horseriding are all available, easily accessible and close to the city.
Ireland in General
Ireland is a small country with a population of just four million people. It is easily accessible from all major European cities and is less than one hour by air from London.
The country has a rich history of learning and culture which dates back many hundreds of years to the time when monks were writing and illustrating beautiful manuscripts, including the Book of Kells. In more recent times, world famous writers such as W.B. Yeats, Sean O'Casey, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and Samuel Beckett have added to the wealth of Irish literature.
The music of U2, Enya, the Corrs and Westlife is known world-wide and our traditional musical heritage continues in the music of The Chieftans and The Dubliners.
