Lessons:- 15 hours English language & 5 hours British Culture & History

LOCATION
The course takes place on the premises of Oriel College Oxford (pictured above).  Oriel College is one of the oldest colleges in Oxford University.  It was founded in 1326 by King Edward III.  The College stands in the very centre of the university area in the city and is surrounded by all the top tourist attractions of Oxford and it is easy to reach the amenities of this historic university.

COURSE
The classes take place in 15th Century rooms overlooking the main college quadrangle. The course consists of 20 classroom hours per week, of which 15 hours are lessons in English as a foreign language and 5 hours are lessons on British culture and history.  There is a maximum of 12 students per class.  We assess the level of each student’s English by test and interview on the first Monday of the course.  The student is allocated to an appropriate level of class.  The course is most suitable for students of pre-intermediate level and above.  The minimum requirement is an elementary level of English and a vocabulary of about 250 words.  The course is not suitable for beginners.

ACCOMMODATION
Participants on the course stay in the Oriel College residence James Mellon Hall that was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 2000. All rooms are single and ensuite and there is a kitchenette on each floor. Full board provided on Monday to Friday, consisting of breakfast, lunch, and evening meal. On Saturdays and Sundays, breakfast only is served. Meals are prepared by the College chef and his staff and, normally, lunch and the evening meal are served in the traditional Oxford College dining hall. Wine, beer and soft drinks may be purchased at extra cost. There is also a College bar in the first quadrangle, which can be used by resident course participants.
