Foundation Preparation Programme
ALL CENTRES
If you have a year 12 High School leaving certificate and would like to go to a UK or Irish university, you will almost certainly need to complete a Foundation year first. The CES/NCUK programme can help you to do this.
The Northern Consortium UK (NCUK) runs its International Foundation Year (IFY) programmes in partner study centres throughout the UK and Ireland. CES has agreements in place with NCUK and its partner study centres to provide guaranteed access to this International Foundation Year(subject to correct IELTS level and suitable year 12 High School transcripts). Successful completion of the NCUK International Foundation Year will then provide guaranteed access to some of the leading universities in the UK and Ireland with hundreds of courses on offer.
The CES Pre-Sessional English programme is based on a 3, 6 or 9 months course which aims to get your IELTS score to the level required to join one of these study centres - usually IELTS 5 (in some cases IELTS 5.5). On this course you will study General English every morning and IELTS /Academic English in the afternoons. At the end of the course, provided you get the required IELTS score, you will progress on to one of the CES/NCUK partner foundation study centres in order to prepare for university entrance. As part of the IELTS classes you will receive instruction in the Academic English skills necessary for a course of further study. These would include note- taking, listening to lectures, referencing and conducting research.
If you study on one of our other courses and decide you would like to go to an NCUK partner study centre to study for university entry, then this is also possible. Just speak to us and we will advise you.
