Relax and enjoy

It is important to us that our students make good use of their time outside the classroom and have fun during their stay in England. For this reason, we organise a full and very popular social programme for all our courses.

There is an activity evening organised by the school each week which in the past included:

  • A FREE orientation tour on your first day
  • Parties and social evenings
  • Regular visits to Oxford.
  • Theatre, cinema, concerts, clubs, pubs, ice-skating and bowling
  • Organised sports afternoons / evenings (there is a sports centre near the school)
  • Tennis, swimming and golf (all available locally)

Our International Food Evenings are famous - students love cooking their national dishes for one another to share. Table tennis, pool (billiards), watching a DVD or just enjoying a coffee with friends in our beautiful garden are also popular activities.

The school is proud of its reputation as a friendly, welcoming and warm community of learners.

Extra-curricular activities

Several activities, such as parties, movie nights, international quiz nights and indoor games at the school, are free of charge. Others, such as cinema, theatre and concert visits, sports evenings and weekend excursions, involve extra cost.

Wheatley pubs also offer evening entertainment, such as jazz and karaoke nights, discos and quizzes. Students who wish to integrate with the local community usually find plenty of opportunities to meet and socialise with local people.

Excursions

We arrange optional weekend excursions by coach (with a guide) to places of historical and cultural interest.

The average price of a full-day excursion is £35 and this includes the coach, the guide and some entrance fees to attractions.

London by bus or train

Oxford is only 90 minutes away by coach from the centre of London.  There is a 24 hour-a-day coach service between Oxford to London, with a bus leaving every 20 minutes,  as well as a frequent and fast train service. This allows students to visit London very easily to go to shows, concerts, museums, art galleries, shops and markets, and visit all the many world-famous places of interest there.

Costs

Some social activities are free, such as movie nights and trips to museums in the city. Other activities may incur small expenses. For example, students usually buy their own drinks during the pub quizzes. Weekend excursions are not free and are not included in course fees (unless otherwise stipulated in group packages).

We look forward to welcoming you to CES Oxford English language school.
